Coastal Management Specalist- Washington Sea Grant

  • Specific duties include: Coordinate the Shoreline and Coastal Planners Group to facilitate networking and development for professionals at local, state, federal and tribal agencies, conservation districts, non-governmental organizations and consulting firms to support implementation of the state’s Shoreline Management Act, Growth Management Act and other similar programs.
  • Partner with Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife Estuary and Salmon Restoration Program to coordinate the Shore Friendly Advisory Committee to encourage sustainable coastal development including implementation of voluntary incentives to promote homebuilding that preserves coastal ecosystem services
  • Collaborate with the Washington State Department of Ecology Coastal Training Program to develop and deliver training to support sustainable coastal development and restoration.

Climate Risk and Decision Making- Penn State University

  • For this position, we seek a colleague who can lead convergent research at the interface of geosciences, climate science, impacts, adaptation, and decision-making under deep uncertainty.
  • The successful applicant will be expected to conduct transdisciplinary research on decision-making for climate risks, addressing considerations of vulnerability, resilience, equity, and impacts to critical infrastructure and vulnerable communities.
  • We are especially interested in applicants who integrate various methodological approaches as they are applied to climate risk, policy, and societal impacts. Attractive areas of interest are broadly defined and include but are not limited to: climatic and geophysical drivers of risk; climate hazards and risks (wildfires/storms/floods/sea level rise/coastal hazards); decision analytics for risk management and adaptation.

Clean Seas Research Scientist- Seattle Aquarium

  • The position is responsible for coordinating research and monitoring projects involving staff, volunteers, graduate students, and external partners. In addition to leading research and monitoring projects, this position manages the aquarium’s plastic pollution research laboratory in the Animal Care Center. Job duties include:
  • Develop and implement high-impact marine debris and pollution research projects to advance the aquarium’s mission and conservation priorities, guided by the aquarium’s values.
  • Develop and maintain rigorous field sampling and sample processing SOPs (with QA/QC protocols), taking care to incorporate the Aquarium’s unique location, research team, and organizational structure.
